The Junk Squad was created from a simple experience many families understand: one day you look around and realize how much unwanted stuff has quietly accumulated. For founder Joe Tijerina, that moment came after stepping away from an 18-year career in the automotive industry. During those years, Joe served in several management roles, including Finance Manager, Sales Manager, and Finance Director. The work taught him how to lead teams, solve problems, communicate clearly, and take care of customers during decisions that can feel stressful or complicated.

After leaving the car business, Joe took approximately a year and a half away from work to focus on his family. About six months into that break, he and his wife began cleaning out their home. Like many households, they had accumulated furniture, boxes, and other unwanted items over the years, especially during the COVID period. Clearing the house revealed a practical problem: getting rid of bulky items responsibly was harder, more time-consuming, and less convenient than it should have been.

That experience became the starting point for The Junk Squad. Joe saw an opportunity to build a service that would do more than haul things away. It could give people back usable space, reduce the stress of a move or cleanout, and provide the dependable communication customers expect from a professional company. The business was built around a straightforward promise: show up prepared, explain the pricing, respect the property, and make the process easier from beginning to end.

The company’s connection to the community is personal. Joe was born and raised in the Kyle and Buda area, and The Junk Squad remains a local, family-run business serving Travis County, Hays County, and surrounding Central Texas communities. We help homeowners, renters, landlords, property managers, real estate professionals, contractors, and businesses with projects ranging from a single bulky item to complete property cleanouts.

Our services include furniture and appliance removal, garage cleanouts, apartment and office cleanouts, eviction and property cleanouts, mattress disposal, storage-unit cleanouts, yard debris removal, pallet removal, and approved construction or demolition debris. Light demolition and removal may also be available for items such as sheds, hot tubs, patios, and play structures after the scope is reviewed. Same-day and next-day appointments may be available based on the route and size of the project.

We believe customers deserve honest guidance before the work starts. Photos often allow us to estimate the amount of material, access, labor, and trailer space involved. When photos cannot show the full scope, we may recommend an onsite assessment. Pricing is confirmed before loading, and any change in scope is discussed rather than added as a surprise. We also make a reasonable effort to donate or recycle usable materials when practical, supporting our goal of reducing unnecessary landfill waste.
